History
In 1974, a group
of parents and educators in the Chicago area saw a need for a distinctive
secondary school for girls. They wanted to create a learning environment
that would combine academic excellence, personal attention to each
student, and sound moral formation in partnership with parents.

These founders
recognized that the years between 11 and 18 are critical for forming
a girl into a young woman. The education she receives, the friends
she makes, the outlook she acquires from the people she respects
- all must work together to provide the ideals and values which
will guide her for the rest of her life.
Helping a girl
to form these values - and then grow into them - is what The Willows
Academy does. With many years of educating young women, we are convinced
that this approach to education really works.
